Project Background

The Douglas County NHMP is due for update by April, 2015. The update process is now in order to take advantage of grant funding and technical support currently available through the Oregon Partnership for Disaster Resilience (OPDR). OPDR will be assisting the county with the update process.

The update process presents an opportunity for Douglas County and participating jurisdictions to (1) document successful hazard mitigation actions that have occurred over the past five years and (2) prioritize mitigation activities through the year 2020. Maintaining an updated NHMP ensures that Douglas County will remain eligible for certain Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) pre- and post-disaster Hazard Mitigation Assistance Grants.

This project is funded through the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) FY13 Pre-Disaster Mitigation Competitive Grant Program.
